Used Book Cellar
Did you know that we trade and sell used books? Head down the flight of stairs next to the Children's desk to check out the selection.
Next ubc trade hours:
Trade in your gently used books every Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
Frequently Asked Questions:
- When is the Used Book Cellar open for browsing?
The ubc is open during regular store hours, from 9 am to 9pm Monday through Saturday, and 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays. The ubc is closed for browsing during author events.
- What kind of payment will I receive for my books?
We issue store credit for up to 20% of the original price depending on the condition of the book. - When can I trade in my used books?
We trade books every Saturday from 11am to 3pm. If you would like to bring in more than a couple of boxes of books (50 book limit, please!), please call beforehand and ask to speak to Melinda.
Note: Please do not drop off books in the ubc to be sold.
- What kind of books do you take?
We're not picky... we're selective! Our inventory is large and our storage space is small, so we can't buy everything that's brought to us. We buy adult and kids' fiction and non-fiction. Generally, if a paperback edition of a book exists, we are unlikely to buy the hardcover. We're not able to buy textbooks, romance novels, home repair and decorating guides, travel guides, children's board books, computer guides, or "coffee table" art and photography books.
Please be sure to pack books in small boxes or bags for safe transportation down the stairs!
- A word on condition... Books must be in good condition - free of underlining, highlighting and water damage. All pages should be securely bound into the book, and the spine should be unbroken.
If you have any questions about bringing in used books, please call and we will be happy to answer them!
Please note: The Used Book Cellar will not be open for browsing during author events. We will be happy to look for a title after the event and place it on hold for you.
